THE RESOURCE ALLIANCE CASE STUDY
The Client The Resource Alliance is a not for profit organisation who provide training to voluntary sector organisations worldwide to build their capacity and mobilise support for their causes. The International Fundraising Congress, organised by the Resource Alliance, is the premiere international training event for professional fundraisers.
The Brief To overhaul and update the Resource Alliance website and integrate the existing International Fundraising Congress event management website (also a WORKSsitebuilder solution) in order to provide a new look and feel and single website presence for this large charitable organisation. The key criterion for this development were;
- A single content and member community management system from which both the Resource Alliance and IFC micro-site could be updated and maintained
- The update and integration of the previously implemented full event management system for the IFC
- The creation of a complex member community management system that manages membership of user profiles and preferences, membership of distinct access areas to the website.
- The addition of public and member discussion forums controlled within a single administration area
- The provision of full website user metrics, detailing site usage, downloads etc
- Create a facility for worldwide (distributed) content provision by regional Resource Alliance contacts.
The Solution A customised WORKSsitebuilder solution was implemented to meet The Resource Alliances exacting requirements within a tight budget.
A new design concept was created, and then fused to a complex iteration of WORKSsitebuilder that allowed for the building of timetables and a searchable cross-linked database of workshops in addition to seminars with speakers and categorisation.
The new event management system was instrumental in The Resource Alliance driving significantly increased delegate numbers at both the 2002 and 2003 International Fundraising Congresses.
We also integrated community building discussion forums and mailing list management facilities. This combined with user subscription and login components provided a strong user loyalty draw for the site. Conference delegates, for example, can now come back to the site to download post conference information and presentations, and take part in conference discussions after the event, significantly enhancing value for delegates.
The full content management, workflow and permissions available within WORKSsitebuilder allows for the distinct business groups within The Resource Alliance (Marketing, Event Management, Membership Management) to have full control of their distinct areas of the site, and interact productively where necessary. Regional contacts (worldwide) are also afforded the opportunity to contribute to the site, which is centrally approved and published.
The integrated user statistics allows The Resource Alliance to accurately track all activity on the site and be proactive in the provision of further content and enhanced services.
